I was surprised to see that the people over there were far more dedicated and serious about their work as compared to their counter parts in Kolkata. They work hard from morning till night and no one has to supervise them with stricture. No wonder Southern India is doing far better than Easter India.Subhanjanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13754980269154740990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-71516902465255098572008-12-29T21:48:00.000+05:302008-12-29T21:48:00.000+05:30Hard work is something that we the people of India...Hard work is something that we the people of India have always avoided and as a result of which we are still one of the so called "developing countries" of the world. When I sit to write this comment I feel angry which I think is quite likely.A few years back I saw a slogan in one of the Bengali newspapers. It goes somewhat like this "Ashi jai maine pai kaaj korle overtime chai".This is the the true and harsh scenario of India's working society.I live in Kolkata which is now known as 'The City Of Bandhs'.I feel that the government of India like most private organizations of India, should imbibe the motto of "no work,no pay".I feel proud to be an Indian when I think of being born in the same soil where great men like Jagdish Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh,Mahatma Gandhi,Rabindranath Tagore and Amartya Sen where born. But now when I think of the present situation where hard work is considered a fool's ambition,my heart gets filled with sorrow.Partha Chatterjeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09138980656638329062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-58145918909069455822008-12-28T03:34:00.000+05:302008-12-28T03:34:00.000+05:30I feel the same about discipline in general. Anywh...I feel the same about discipline in general. Anywhere outside India, the value of time and of course humans are much more. A bus driver never starts driving a bus until the passengers are comfortably seated. Additionally, a passenger would never get down the bus until he thanks the driver. This is mere business transaction though? In India, we are so impatient, as if always in a hurry. In that we shout at eachother. Would you ever find a headline in a US Newspaper which says - "Bindra says, who is Vengsarkar?". I think none really talks like that. I agree Americans have become unpopular, but then I wonder by being different we are very popular. Indians are not respected that much. Sadly it is felt if India and China take on everything in the world - quality would suffer and so would the general behavior of people. At least that is the thought as of now - our experiences would help us to conclude whether that is true.Tanmoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10472125805572571597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-64762404596195236802008-12-27T23:55:00.000+05:302008-12-27T23:55:00.000+05:30A sad way to end a beautiful post, I felt.I have h...A sad way to end a beautiful post, I felt.

I have heard of New York from many, some of my relatives dwell, but I am looking forward to know more of the city from a man of literature, with an eagle-eye on 'unimportant' yet essential things!

Love
ManoshijChanchalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05000818926880088096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-4633364312441198652008-12-27T21:55:00.000+05:302008-12-27T21:55:00.000+05:30This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Krishanuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09228544790619263860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-92172211667683621632008-12-26T13:16:00.000+05:302008-12-26T13:16:00.000+05:30As usual, I have been following your posts from US...As usual, I have been following your posts from US regularly. What has impressed me most is your eye for the minor details and an unbiased view of the country. I often find fellow bengalis with a tendency of blaming every thing on US. Whether that is because of their political ideology or simple inferiority complex, I don't know, but it surely is a habit that has stopped us from progressing.Anirban Dasguptahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04847011686718409552noreply@blogger.com
