Maybe, governments are just illustrations of this inexorable rule. (See the difference between Obama of 2008 and of 2011.) But we have to live with them.

I too think, from what I read in papers, Jairam Ramesh is the odd man out in the central cabinet. This corrupt government needs people like him to dress their windows. The moment their utility is over, they will be thrown out.Santanu Sinha Chaudhurihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15062744470522359652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-23605131285609991432011-09-30T18:49:44.416+05:302011-09-30T18:49:44.416+05:30The lack of political will and our 'chalta hai...The lack of political will and our 'chalta hai' attitude is spelling doom for our country. Jairam Ramesh had come as, pardon the pun, a breath of fresh air. But he was shown the door as he had taken his post/task very earnestly. Who needs a Minister who's sincerely concerned about the environment? I don't think it'll be very difficult or impractical to hike the price of diesel for use in all these new SUVs etc. But then, is there a single politician in India who'll suggest this? As if.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5653188975343905818.post-2801325732978524342011-09-23T23:39:14.395+05:302011-09-23T23:39:14.395+05:30One thing i consistently noticed, whenever goverme...One thing i consistently noticed, whenever goverment get involved, it invariably screws things up. Lot of times they do these with good intent, but they are not smart enough to see the unintended consequences. Diesel subsidy was probably implemented to make commodities cheaper(with less transportation cost) which helps poor more. However most of these subsidies are helping car companies to see more cars!.Also in the process, kills the natural equilibrium in so many ways - demand of cars/diesel and so many others.Sujithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02315656474470735939noreply@blogger.com
